Hand painting during art workshop

Event details

Join us for an interactive evening at the OAG as we explore the richness of Canadian and Indigenous cultures. During this workshop, you’ll discover pre-colonial Anishinaabe map-making traditions and learn to (re)map your neighbourhood or city.

Designed by the Anishinaabe (Odawa) artist Barry Ace, the workshop encourages critical thinking about colonialism in Canada. Your group will build cultural competence and respect for diverse Indigenous Peoples while learning more about each other and where you come from. Whether you’re new to Ottawa or already part of the uOttawa community, this event is a chance to connect, reflect and celebrate cultural diversity.
