Do Birds Blush?

Presented by the students of the ART4119 curating course, Do Birds Blush? is an Ottawa-based exhibition curated by students at the University of Ottawa. The exhibition moves away from human-centred thinking and instead turns toward the more-than-human world, asking imaginative questions such as Do birds blush? and Do icebergs sing? Through this lens, the show explores what becomes possible when we stop assuming humans are supreme and begin to blur the lines between creator and creation.

Featuring works in painting, sculpture, photography, video, and installation, the exhibition brings together artists whose practices reflect curiosity, care, and reciprocity toward the natural world. Do Birds Blush? creates contemplative spaces for viewers to consider how art can move between human and more-than-human realms, encouraging a deeper understanding of our connection to, and responsibility within, the larger web of life.
