How it works….The new swipe access management solution leverages the uOttawa card:
The uOttawa Card provide more than a means of identification. It’s a digital pass to campus life:
- Access to restricted spaces on campus
- In-office printing
- Entry to sports facilities
The uOttawa Card brings tangible benefits to the community while supporting uOttawa’s Vision 2030, which emphasizes automation, innovation, and digital empowerment for everyone on campus.
For years, building access relied on manual processes: facility managers assigning cards, updating access permissions, and troubleshooting entry issues. It worked, but it was time-consuming and prone to delays.
With the new system, access to restricted assets is connected to your user profile (Are you a student or an Employee?). The identity management system can automatically assign and manage access behind the scenes.
Four buildings (200 Lees, 141 Louis Pasteur, 600 and 850 Peter Morand) have already transitioned to this new swipe access system. With the addition of each building, we continue to refine processes, reduce administrative workload, and free facility managers to focus on higher-value tasks.
A model innovation
Our new Identity and Access Management solution isn’t just convenient, it’s a major technological shift and it’s drawing the attention of organizations like CN Rail and even universities in Australia who are interested in following our lead.
With an additional 38 buildings scheduled for migration in the coming months, the university community is encouraged to obtain the new uOttawa card, if you have not already done so. This will ensure uninterrupted access and allow you to benefit from the full range of integrated services. New cards can be conveniently requested from the comfort of your desk by following the process to submit your access request card online.
Get your uOttawa card now to avoid any delays and enjoy the streamlined experience. Fewer headaches, more freedom, and a campus that feels a little smarter every day.
