The ELLA's Accelerator program, Ascend 2021, has selected Erin Cowling, LL.B ’04, based on the success of her recently-founded freelance law firm, Flex Legal, and the leadership she demonstrated as the Common Law Section’s Regional Alumni Advisor in Toronto.

Erin Cowling, supports new lawyer alumni in their career and future development through advice, workshops and networking events. It is this passion for helping the legal community that led her to found Flex Legal, which  allows lawyers or law firms to get help to reduce their workload by hiring a freelance lawyer temporarily.

ELLA, or Entrepreneurial Leadership and Learning Alliance, is Ontario's first business accelerator that supports women-led businesses. ELLA, made by women, for women aims  to close the gender gap in entrepreneurship. The Ascend 2021 program is a five-month program that allows women entrepreneurs to rapidly improve their business by participating in intensive networking, workshop, and mentoring programs, while having the chance to obtain new opportunities for their business.

ELLA provides women entrepreneurs with access to all the information and resources they need to achieve their business goals.  ELLA's mission and role is all the more important in the world of entrepreneurship in Canada, where only 16 per cent of business owners are women. Their work and support of inclusiveness and equality is recognized and appreciated.

We wish Erin Cowling much  success with this new endeavour!
