    Friday, October 1, 2021

    The deadline to submit an Application for the upcoming 2021 NSERC Discovery Grant Competition is November 1, 2021 at 8:00PM. The internal uOttawa Application Deadline is November 1st, 2021 at 12:00PM (noon).

  • NFRF 2021 Exploration Competition – Full Application Deadline

    The deadline to submit an Application for the upcoming 2021 NFRF Exploration Competition is October 19, 2021 at 8:00PM.

    The internal uOttawa Application Deadline* is October 18, 2021 at 12:00PM (noon).

    *Please note that researchers and hospital clinicians whose employer and primary appointment is at a hospital-based research institute will submit through their institute. Please contact your respective research office for further details.

  • Impetus Grants
    Monday, October 4, 2021

    A new funding opportunity that provides funding for scientists ‘to start working on what they consider the most important problems in aging biology, without delay.’ They offer grants of up to $500k, with decisions made within 3 weeks. The review process is "looking for the potential for impact rather what could go wrong".

  • Faculty of Medicine Genomic Editing and Molecular biology (GEM) facility begins delivering custom CRISPR edited cell lines and overexpression lines
    Wednesday, October 13, 2021

    Over the past months, the GEM facility has started to deliver its first custom CRISPR knock-out/knock-in lines and overexpression lines to the uOttawa research community. In addition, the GEM facility provides access to the MGC premier human ORFeome Collaboration Library and to a human CRISPR guide library. Additional services include: cloning from the human ORFeome library into any available Gateway vector; custom gRNA design; knock-out and knock-in cell line generation and validation; and stable cell line generation.

  • GAIRDNER LECTURE SERIES - Dr. Elaine Fuchs

    Each year, the Faculty of Medicine hosts a Gairdner Lecture Series as part of a tour that brings together Canada Gairdner Laureates and world class scientists as they lecture at universities across Canada. The Canada Gairdner Awards are recognized as among the most prestigious awards.

    This year the event features the internationally acclaimed researcher:  Dr. Elaine Fuchs, winner of the 2020 Canada Gairdner International Award for her studies elucidating the role of tissue stem cells in homeostasis, wound repair, inflammation and cancer.

  • Launch of the 2022 Call for Proposals of the France-Canada Research Fund
    Monday, October 25, 2021

    For researchers wishing to start a new collaboration with a peer in France. The program is restricted to researchers who have never collaborated before. The funding supports the mobility of researchers and their students. Applications must be submitted as joint projects between a French institution and one of the 20 Canadian universities that are members of the FCRF.

    Open to all research fields while promoting interdisciplinary projects. Up to 5 projects related to the Impact of global change on Oceans and Coastal regions can be selected.

    Funding: 8 000 CAD to 15000 CAD

    Deadline: November 12, 2021
