The Vice-President, International and Francophonie will help to solidify uOttawa’s place in the global community.

To further solidify its place in the global community, the University of Ottawa has created the new position of Vice-President, International and Francophonie. The position was approved by the Board of Governors on December 9, 2019.

“Our commitment to internationalization and to la Francophonie is more than just an institutional priority,” says President and Vice-Chancellor Jacques Frémont. “It is a point of great pride for our community, and this new position will take these initiatives to the next level.”

The new Vice-President, International and Francophonie will oversee the design, coordination and implementation of internationalization strategies across uOttawa. This will include establishing international private and public sector partnerships, supporting the internationalization of research and curricula, and expanding international opportunities for the uOttawa community.

This new position will be mandated to preserve, cultivate and promote Franco-Ontarian culture and identity according to the priorities proposed by the Cardinal Report, as well as to promote the importance of la Francophonie on a local, national and international level.

“The University’s new strategic plan, Transformation 2030, paints an exciting picture of what we will look like a decade from now,” says Mr. Frémont. “This new Vice-President will be invaluable in helping us to meet our ambitious goals in relation to la Francophonie and Internationalism.”

The search for candidates will begin in early 2020.
