The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine has launched a new partnership program to help address the underrepresentation of Inuit and Nunavummiut physicians in the Nunavut healthcare workforce.
To increase the number of Inuit healthcare professionals, uOttawa has teamed with the Government of Nunavut and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) to start a new application stream that will fully fund a minimum of two positions for a Nunavummiut and a Nunavut student.
The partnership begins in September 2023. Interested students meeting the criteria must apply to the UGME program through the usual Ontario Medical Schools Application Servicenorth_eastexternal link (OMSAS) process by October 1st, 2022. All applicants must meet Faculty of Medicine undergraduate admissions requirements.
