GIS Day

Description of the event

This year’s event will be entirely held in person with no virtual option. Complimentary coffee, snacks, and pizza lunch will be provided.

Please consider registering for the event (recommended but not required). This can help us with planning and will also allow you to add the event to your Google or Outlook calendar.

Call for Presentations

We are accepting presentations from graduate students, research groups, and faculty for this event. Presentations should be 15 minutes in duration, with 5 minutes for questions (20 minutes total). Presentations can be about a past or current research project involving any GIS/mapping software product.

We are still looking for additional presenters for GIS Day 2026. Please consider submitting a presentation proposal - all are welcome! The event will be informal, and projects do not need to be completed or polished to present at the event. We look forward to hearing about your projects!

If you are interested in presenting, please submit a presentation proposal by November 6th, 2026, to gsg@uOttawa.ca that outlines the following:

  • The presentation title
  • The software used (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, etc.)
  • A few sentences overview (e.g., summary of the project, analysis performed, results, lessons learned/tips and tricks)

  • Coffee & welcome (9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.)
  • Speaker series 1 (9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.)
