Arts 101: Faculty of Arts Welcome Day 2025

Join us for the Undergraduate Arts Welcome Day 2025! 🎓

The day will begin with mandatory information sessions led by the Undergraduate Studies Office. You’ll get essential guidance on your program, student platforms, academic expectations, and the many resources available to support you throughout your studies.
 

All students must attend one session, in either English or French. Each session runs for 1 hour.

🎨 Afternoon Fun: Emotions in Colour - Painting & Snack Bar Event

After your information session, take a break and join us for Emotions in Colour (Register here) in SMD 224, a relaxing and creative painting activity open to all Faculty of Arts first-year graduate and undergraduate students. There will be a snack bar with free treats, so you can grab a bite while you paint at your own pace or simply come in and mingle while you snack in SMD 227.

Departmental Info Sessions

In the afternoon, head to your department-specific session, where you'll meet faculty members, get details about your program, and connect with other students in your discipline. (Check this event regularly before September 2 for updates on the schedule.)

Undergraduate Department Activities – September 2, 2025

Philosophy

Bilingual info session at 3:00 p.m. in DMS (Desmarais Building) 1120.

Meet the department chair and other speakers for details on the program and academic pathways in Philosophy.

Communication

Bilingual info session at 1:00 p.m. –2:30 p.m., CRX (Learning Crossroads) C308.

Includes professor introductions, sandwiches, cookies and chips, and a tour of the multimedia labs. Registration required

Music

Info Session from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., PRZ (Perez Hall) 121.

Meet the Undergraduate Studies Director and support staff, get key music student info (practice rooms, etc.), and have your questions answered.

Geography

Bilingual Info Session from 1:00 pm to 2:00 p.m., SIM (Simard Hall) 129.

Short presentation and department tour, with cookies and beverages.

English

First-year English students Info Session at 3:00 p.m. in the 3rd-floor lobby of MHN (Hamelin Hall).

Professors and student group leaders will introduce themselves, share program and event info, and answer questions. Refreshments will be served.

Theatre

Info Session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Venue TBD.

Department to introduce professors, staff, productions, and the Thespis student union (who will then host a party). Food provided. 

Classics and Religious Studies

Undergraduate welcome day activities will be held, but not on September 2.
