Are you starting your studies at uOttawa in the winter 2026 term? We’re hosting a variety of online orientation sessions for new international students. Our regional mentors can answer all your questions about university, our Student Immigration Advising team can provide you with guidance on immigration, and our University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) experts can give you more information on your health coverage in Canada.

Immigration 101
Make sure you understand your responsibilities as an international study permit holder. This session will provide detailed guidance on your study permit conditions, how to stay compliant, and what steps to take to maintain your legal status in Canada. Join us to make sure you’re fully prepared to fulfill all your immigration requirements during your studies.

How to prepare for university
Speak to one of our regional mentors for friendly guidance and first-hand tips: they’re students who have been through the same experience you’re about to face. Get advice on what to pack, what to expect during your first few weeks, and how to get ready for life at uOttawa. Don’t miss this chance to ask questions and start feeling prepared and confident before you arrive!

University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP)
Find out how health insurance coverage works while you’re studying in Canada. This session will walk you through the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), including what’s covered and how to use the plan, as well as what additional health and dental insurance plans are available to you as an undergraduate or graduate student. Join us to make sure you’re fully prepared before you arrive.
