A commitment to safety in action: April Health and Safety Leader Dwight Pollock
We are delighted to celebrate Dwight Pollock, the manager of the Facilities Mechanical team, for his exceptional leadership in advancing health and safety across the University. He oversees a team that regularly performs high-risk tasks to maintain complex mechanical systems, and his unwavering commitment to safety ensures that these operations are carried out in the safest way possible.

Since stepping into his managerial role, Dwight has introduced structured safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out procedures and risk assessments for complex tasks. This proactive approach has fostered a culture of accountability and open dialogue, which encourages his team members to raise concerns and collaborate on solutions. His monthly documented health and safety meetings provide a consistent forum for discussion, reinforcing transparency and continuous improvement.

But Dwight’s influence extends beyond his team. He is frequently called upon to support health and safety initiatives across faculties and services, treating every concern with diligence and respect. His ability to communicate clearly and maintain trust through regular updates is proof of his inclusive approach to leadership.

By embedding safety into daily operations and leading by example, Dwight has become a driving force behind the University’s evolving safety culture. Congratulations Dwight; your dedication, innovation and commitment are creating a safer workplace for all.
