What is the Digital Humanities Summer Institute (DHSI)?
DHSI brings together students, scholars, artists, and professionals for a week of immersive workshops, lectures, and collaborative projects. Participants could develop their skills in digital tools, data visualization, text analysis, and research methods.

Eligibility and criteria
- The grant is for undergraduate students at the University of Ottawa who are studying in a program in the Faculty of Arts and who have an interest in digital humanities.
- Applicants must demonstrate interest or experience with digital humanities methods, tools, or projects.
- Applicants are encouraged to explain how their academic work relates to the skills or experiences they hope to gain by attending DHSI.
- The successful applicant will be expected to attend DHSI in June 2026.
- After the conference, the successful applicant will be required to write a reflection piece, sharing a self-assessment on how the attendance to DHSI 2026 contributed to their development of new DH skills, supported their academic/creative goals, and/or helped them connect with others in the DH community.
Application requirements
Please submit your application to dhnbiblio@uottawa.ca by January 30, 2026 :
• Include a statement of purpose (up to 500 words) outlining academic interests and current studies, addressing digital humanities engagement, and explaining how DHSI will benefit your work.
• Include a section describing your engagement with or interest in digital humanities.
• In addition, you are encouraged to explain in your statement how participation in DHSI will support your academic or creative goals.
• Please, attach your résumé or curriculum vitae (maximum two pages) to the application.
NB : The grant covers one week of DHSI registration, Université de Montréal residence, and travel. It excludes meal costs.
