Collective reflection on the migration paths and participation in Africa of African students and the African diaspora in Canada
Nov 8, 2024 — 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This interactive workshop, taking place on November 8, 2024 in French at the University of Ottawa, is the result of collaboration between a variety of people involved in the Forum Afrique Monde association, the universities of Ottawa and Montreal, and research institutions within Quebec's health and social services network. It is part of the association's mission to build bridges between African education and training organizations and Canadian institutions. The aim of this workshop is to gain a better understanding of the socio-professional paths taken by African students and members of the African diaspora who have completed their college and/or university studies in Canada, and their involvement in Africa, Canada and the rest of the world. In this sense, the exchanges will address the migratory paths of African students and those from African diasporas in Canada in relation to four major spheres of social life:
- life cycles,
- the relationship between rights and education,
- social ties and
- the contribution of these students to Canada, Africa and the rest of the world.
The workshop will bring together those primarily concerned, i.e. students, members of the African delegation and front-line players from educational and training institutions.
