When help is needed in sorting out a personal concern, mental health advisors are a resource for learning new skills in building self-confidence, relating to others, reducing stress, solving problems, and identifying options. Thus, the faculty of social sciences at the University of Ottawa provides its diverse student body with a professional consultation conducted by many of its mental health advisors.

For the master’s and Ph.D. students, Kiran Servansing is one of the advisors at the Faculty of Social Sciences who is here to help students to navigate mental health during university in aspiration of breaking the stigma that prevents individuals from getting the help they need. Mrs. Servansing is a registered Psychotherapist, who holds a master’s in counselling with numerous years of experience in the field of mental health and education. Her goal is to be there for the students and help them navigate their struggles without neglecting their mental health.

Graduate students of the Faculty of Social Sciences can email healthpromo@uottawa.ca to book an appointment with a counsellor working directly with the Faculty of Social Sciences.

You also have access to a maximum of 10 counselling sessions with your own Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP).
