Notes

  1. The Major in Economics consists of 42 (ECO) course units.  
  2. This program must be combined with a minor or another major if enrolled in the Honours degree.   Please consult the Make changes to your undergraduate program to add a minor or major and view the eligibility criteria of the discipline you wish to add.
  3. Students will also have to complete the compulsory ENG 1100, ENG 1120 and the required number of elective courses to obtain the degree.

4. 4000 level optional courses in Economics (ECO) are limited to students in the 4th year of the program of studies and require a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 5.0 or more. View the course catalog for more information.

  1. Students who intend to pursue graduate studies in economics should select MAT 1300 or the sequence MAT 1320 and MAT 1322. A strong background in mathematics helps students succeed in advanced courses and graduate studies in economics.
  2. Students who intend to participate in the CO-OP program should take ECO 2150 and ECO 2151 in their second year.
  3. ECO 3145, ECO 3152, ECO 3153 are strongly recommended for studies in the Master's in Economics.
