Funding Opportunities

To encourage a global and diverse conversation on robotics and AI law, ethics and policy, we are excited to announce two funding opportunities: the Microsoft Emerging We Robot Scholars, and the IDRC-We Robot Global Voices Fellows!

Microsoft Emerging We Robot Scholars

Thanks to a generous contribution from Microsoft, funding is available to allow emergent researchers (graduate students or professors fewer than 5 years into their academic post) who have insufficient institutional financial support to attend We Robot 2020.

Please send a short email explaining your interest and your financial needs, and a CV to Dr. Martin-Bariteau at werobot@uottawa.ca.

We will start to review applications on March 5, 2020.

IDRC-We Robot Global Voices Fellows

Thanks to a generous contribution from the Government of Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC), funding is available to allow researchers from the Global South to attend We Robot 2020.

The IDRC-We Robot Global Voices Fellowships will cover travel costs to Ottawa, as well as accomodation and registration fees. Fellows will also be invited for a workshop at IDRC as part of its AI4D Initiative. We’re expecting to fund 8 fellows from the Global South. Subject to available funds, partial funding might be offered to additional applicants.

Please send a short email explaining your interest (indicating your country of origin), your financial needs, and a CV to Dr. Martin-Bariteau at werobot@uottawa.ca.

We will start to review applications on March 5, 2020.
