Dr. Arezu Jahani-Asl was featured in an article online by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for her recent findings that may bring hope for patients with aggressive brain cancer. With CHIR funding, Dr. Jahani-Asl has discovered a protein network associated with how tumors become more aggressive and resistant to therapy. Her lab is now studying was to block this protein network from forming.

In a separate CIHR funded project, Dr. Jahani-Asl has had success in using an approved ALS drug to prevent the growth of brain tumor cells and make them more responsive to radiation therapy.
