Eric Ward is a Senior Fellow at the University of Ottawa Centre for Law, Technology and Society.

Eric Ward has held executive, legal, and strategic foresight roles in the federal Department of Justice, Privy Council Office, and Employment and Skills Development Canada. He was also an Assistant Commissioner at the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario. He started his career at the Supreme Court of Canada and the Senate of Canada after studying both civil and common law at the Faculty of Law of McGill University.

Eric Ward keeps returning to privacy and information law. He is currently interested in the boundaries we set for privacy norms, timing problems in data regulation, and the intersections between human-designed and natural information ecosystems.
