Business & human rights: The international advisory opinions on climate change
Webinar series on Business & Human Rights
Feb 12, 2026 — 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC) and the International Law Association of Canada (ILA Canada) are pleased to be collaborating on a webinar series on Business & Human Rights, a multidisciplinary field of research that examines the human rights and environmental implications of business activity and considers how to prevent and redress such harm. It is also an area of social advocacy, legal practice, and consultancy.
Business & human rights: The international advisory opinions on climate change
This webinar will consider the recent ground-breaking advisory opinions on climate change rendered by the International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACtHR), and their implications for business and human rights. Experts will discuss the genesis of these cases, the issues before each of the courts, and aspects of the rulings that have implications for the business and human rights normative framework.
