New interdisciplinary Laboratory for Engaged Research created by Professor Larisa Kurtović
HRREC academic member, Professor Larisa Kurtović, founded the Laboratory for Engaged Research at the University of Ottawa in the fall of 2022.

The Laboratory for Engaged Research (LER) at the University of Ottawa aims to promote, foster and enhance engaged, activist, participatory and collaborative approaches to research in the humanities and social sciences. The LER focuses on qualitative research that aligns with the goals of various social justice movements, and the co-creation of knowledge with the communities in which we conduct our investigations. The Laboratory's programming includes public lectures, workshops, reading groups, training seminars and other events and initiatives aimed at students.

The laboratory was officially launched on October 19, 2022 with a round-table discussion on the issues and challenges of engaged research, where speakers also discussed the laboratory's mission and future programming.
