1. User Training and Approval
- All users must undergo training provided by the Core Facility.
- If users do not demonstrate competence in autonomous usage of the facility, a mandatory 1-hour refresher training will be required.
- If a user does not use the TEM for 5 weeks or more, a mandatory 1-hour refresher training will be required.
2. Booking Policies
- Regular usage hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-6pm.
- A user cannot book more than 4 hours per session or more than 3 sessions per week.
- If a user completes their session earlier or later than their scheduled duration, they must immediately notify the Core Facility staff.
3. Cancellation Policy
- Users can cancel their booking without penalty if they inform the Core Facility more than 24 hours prior to their scheduled booking.
- Cancellation requests made within 24 hours of the booking will incur a cancellation fee of $50.00 CAD.
4. Technical Problems
- Users must notify Core staff immediately of any technical problems that may arise during use of the TEM.
- Since the TEM is very sensitive to environmental conditions, if a technical problem occurs during use, the Core will not charge for the time that the instrument was unusable.
5. Core Facility as Intellectual Input
- The Core Facility should be recognized for its intellectual input, including experimental design, data analysis, interpretation, and technical contributions.
6. Acknowledgment in Publications, Conferences, and Seminars
- The Electron Microscopy Core provides services for electron microscopy on a fee-for-service basis. Basic processing and microscopy are the responsibility of the staff of the Electron Microscopy Core. Interpretations of resulting data are the responsibility of the submitting investigator.
- The Electron Microscopy Core should be acknowledged in publications, conference presentations, or seminars in which microscopy results are utilized.
- Co-authorship on resulting publications should be considered when projects brought to the Electron Microscopy Core require significant additional scientific or intellectual input from Electron Microscopy Core staff.
