Professor Lenard's expertise touches on migration, refugees and asylum seekers.
"By insisting that asylum seekers leave the hotels that IRCC has been funding, IRCC will create an even bigger problem – of asylum seekers, mainly families, who have nowhere at all to go. The government committed to working with asylum seekers living in hotels to find more permanent housing – it has done so for many individuals and families. The remaining folks who don’t have an alternative, at this moment, ought to be permitted to stay in the hotels – on the government’s bill – until more stable housing can be identified for them."

Professor Clark-Kazak's research touches on forced migration with broad experience in government, civil society and academia. She collaborates with community partners to provide experiential learning opportunities in courses related to human rights and migration.
“Our research shows that community-based housing with wrap-around supports is more cost-effective and produces better settlement outcomes for refugee claimants than hotels. However, pulling the plug on hotel funding without investing in alternatives is irresponsible, violates Canada’s domestic and international legal obligations and will result in increased homelessness.”
