The cover of Common Law Section's biennial research report for 2023-2025
The Common Law Section’s 2023-2025 Biennial Research Report is now available in a dynamic new online format designed to make it easier than ever to explore the depth, diversity, and real-world impact of our research.

Covering the period from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2025, this report highlights the innovative and transformative work of our faculty members as they advance justice, promote inclusivity, and help shape a more sustainable and equitable future.

This edition is framed around a theme of renewal and continuity, capturing both change and enduring strengths. Over the past two years, we’ve celebrated the remarkable contributions of retiring colleagues while welcoming a new generation of scholars whose expertise spans international and health law, business law and innovation, social justice, and technology law. Leadership transitions in our research centres and within the Research Office itself have further energized our community, all while maintaining the Section’s longstanding commitment to research excellence.

The report showcases the accomplishments of our dynamic and expanding roster of research chairs and the achievements of faculty members whose work is influencing global debates on technology, health, climate, human rights, and democratic governance. From groundbreaking advances in intellectual property and neurotechnology law to award-winning research with Indigenous communities and major contributions to policy reform, the digital pages of this report reflect the breadth and vitality of our research ecosystem.

We invite you to explore the report and discover the many ways our scholars – established leaders and emerging voices alike – are shaping the future of law in Canada and beyond.
