As we celebrate Women’s History Month, the University of Ottawa Library is proud to share that it has received the official certificate of inscription from the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCUNESCO) recognizing the Canadian Women’s Movement Archives Collection as part of the Canada Memory of the World Register.

The official inscription, first announced in March 2024, marked an important recognition of the Canadian Women’s Movement Archives Collection as a powerful record preserving the voices, struggles, and achievements of women who helped shape feminist movements across Canada.

Housed at the uOttawa Library, this collection is among the most frequently accessed collections in the University’s Archives and Special Collections. The archives include documents, photographs, posters, textiles, and audiovisual materials from hundreds of feminist organizations and individuals active between the 1960s and 1990s.

Explore part of the collection online or visit the Archives and Special Collection at the Morisset Library to discover additional materials and dive deeper into the stories that shaped the women’s movement in Canada.
