Dr. Racine has established an innovative program of research examining the impact of early childhood adversity and traumatic stress on children’s mental health. Her work also focuses on prevention and intervention strategies to mitigate the harmful effects of child trauma.
Her excellence has been recognized nationally and internationally. She is the recipient of the New Investigator Award from both the World Association of Infant Mental Health and the Canadian Psychological Association. She also contributes her expertise globally as a member of the editorial boards of Child Abuse and Neglect and the Infant Mental Health Journal.
What sets Dr. Racine apart is her strong commitment to community-based partnerships with organizations supporting children and families exposed to trauma. She is currently leading a large multi-site study on early intervention programming for pregnant and parenting women with young children affected by trauma. This landmark project will be the first to demonstrate how focusing on the parent–child relationship can disrupt the negative trajectories associated with trauma. Building on this evidence, she will spearhead the implementation of infant mental health approaches across Canada and beyond.
Through her pioneering research, leadership, and collaboration, Dr. Racine has made substantial contributions to the field of traumatic stress. Her recognition by ISTSS highlights the global impact of her work.
