1. The workshops tackle a variety of topics
Learn about stress management and mindfulness, safer substance use, sexual health and nutrition (yes, you will get to prepare food you can eat). And what’s new this year?
- A workshop on menstrual health has been added to a series of workshops that focus on sexual and reproductive health, safer sex and sexual violence prevention. Led by experts from the Student Health and Wellness Centre, these workshops offer product giveaways, so you can experiment with products such as condoms, lubricant, dental dams, menstrual cups and period underwear to help you figure out what works best for you.
- Student Wellness Trivia: test your knowledge of health tips, wellness strategies and campus services while winning prizes and building support networks.
2. The workshops are relatable
Unlike typical lectures, these workshops are built on feedback collected by student volunteers and health promotion specialists who engage with students every day. They are activity-based and invite you to explore challenges and solutions with your peers.
“The Art for the Heart painting workshop was my favourite. I really appreciated the creative and relaxing atmosphere. It was a wonderful way to unwind and connect with others.”
Yacoute Ellebbane
— Second-year BCom (accounting) student
3. They are welcoming
For some, these workshops represent more than learning opportunities: they’re places to recharge and connect with others. Everyone has their own tips and tricks that can help others. The Wellness Workshop Series serves as both a calm environment and a place for low-pressure social interaction.
4. They are reliable yet flexible.
The flexibility of the program is one of its strengths. The workshops are designed to meet you where you are, whether you need support, rest or community. Workshops are held regularly, and you’re welcome to drop in for one that seems right for you over the course of the term.
Wellness Workshop Series are a fun way to take care of your physical and mental well-being
