On October 28, an interactive, hand-crafted art gallery, created by HRREC student member and University of Ottawa Fine Arts undergraduate with a minor in law, Ana Fox, was introduced and installed at the Hintonburg Community Centre.

Within just two days, all 150 creative envelopes prepared for children were taken. Interest in the installation continues to grow, and local artists have already begun using the space to exhibit their work. Children and community members have also started submitting their own creations to the digital showcase.

The Community Muse is a fully accessible, interactive art gallery designed for people of all ages and artistic backgrounds. It features a physical exhibition space curated weekly by local participants and a digital screen displaying community-submitted drawings, photographs, and creative projects.

An interactive component offers guided activities and artistic tutorials inside the envelopes to encourage children to develop their artistry and explore various techniques in a playful, self-directed way. Although the project is open to all, it intentionally centers the child’s perspective, creating a space where their art and ideas are publicly valued. Adults are also invited to reconnect with a sense of wonder through this imaginative experience.

The installation changes weekly to promote dialogue, creativity, and connection within the community. Plans are already underway for the next rotation, which will feature new materials and the work of a local artist.
