Field research courses will be offered in country in summer 2025. Field Research Courses will be held according to the host country's sanitary measures and Canadian Travel Advisories.
We offer courses that enable students to conduct an independent study abroad and offer them the opportunity to increase their knowledge on particular issues linked to the host country. These courses count for six credits in the undergraduate program of study and three credits for students registered in a master’s program.
These are intensive and compressed courses that have course activities all day for 3 weeks. Students are expected to fully participate in all course-related activities, including pre-departure meetings in the winter term and 3 weeks of in-country field research in the spring/summer term. Students are not permitted to enroll or participate in any other course when in the host country.
For more information or to find out how the course can fit in your program of study, students can make an appointment with the Field Research Course Coordinator. Contact fssinter@uOttawa.ca to schedule an appointment. Confirm your student number and availability to schedule a meeting via TEAMS.
Please note that for selected students, a non-refundable deposit of $500 will be required to confirm participation by December 16.
Please note that each course has a maximum capacity of 15 students.
